Timber construction companies in South Africa may now apply to become members of the newly formed South African Institute of Timber Builders – SAITB with its head office in Somerset West, Cape Town and representatives in Gauteng, KZN, Eastern and Southern Cape.

The South African Institute of Timber Builders SAITB aims to ensure a substantially larger timber construction representative body in SA to better serve its members, clients, consumers, and related businesses.

Timber frame structures
Post and beam structures
Solid log structures
Cross laminated timber structures including multi story construction
Site manufactured (but engineered) roof trusses
Decking
Boardwalks
Bridges
Any other timber structural work

All other timber related industries or associations are invited to apply to become members or associate members.

Who can apply?

Architects and engineers are also encouraged to join the SAITB to promote and enhance the growing use of timber in construction while establishing and maintaining regulations and the high standards expected from members.

Suppliers to the industry are also invited to become supplier members. The SAITB believes that all memberships should be mutually beneficial.

What the SAITB offers

Inspections of pre-owned timber homes for banks, insurance companies, municipalities as well as private individuals.

Mediation between clients and builder members in the rare instances where disputes may arise.
