VISION

The SAITB aims to ensure a substantially larger timber construction representative body in SA to better serve its members, clients, consumers, and related businesses:
  • To create and maintain the highest standards in timber construction
  • To monitor SAITB members
  • To improve standards
  • To promote and market timber construction

ABOUT

The Timber Frame Builders Association was birthed in the early 1980’s and has a 40 year history within the timber construction industry albeit that four name changes have taken place.

In 2014, the Institute of Timber Frame Builders (ITFB) previously known as the TFBA (Timber Frame Builders association) was incorporated into the ITC-SA.

In 2020, the formation on the SAITB follows a decision made by the ITC-SA to withdraw from the representative organisation to focus on their core business, namely gang nail pre-manufactured roof trusses.

THE ROLE OF THE SAITB

Timber construction companies in South Africa may now apply to become members of the newly formed South African Institute of Timber Builders – SAITB with its head office in Somerset West, Cape Town and representatives in Gauteng, KZN, Eastern and Southern Cape.

Formerly known as the ITC-SA, the SAITB aims to ensure a substantially larger timber construction representative body in SA to better serve its members, clients, consumers, and related businesses.
